Marvel’s Dave Bautista signs up for Netflix crime movie

Guardians of the Galaxy spirit Down star Dave Bautista looks like he’s going to star in and produce a new crime movie for Netflix.

Deadline reports that the wrestler-turned-actor is considering a project titled Unleashed. Jeff Tosmic, who directed the barmy comedy ROOFwill be directing the film, while the writers of BlockersJim and Brian Kehoe, are penning the script.

The film will see Bautista play a cop who is partnered with a sniffer dog called Boomer. Unfortunately, the dog dies on the job and Bautista’s character swears that he will never work with another dog again. But then he gets partnered with a new pooch, Zeus.

Speaking to Digital Spy previously, the actor teased that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 could be the last time he plays Drax the Destroyer.

“There were talks for a while about a Drax and Mantis film. It was really because it was James Gunn’s idea. He really wanted to do a Drax and Mantis film. He laid it out to me. I thought it was such a brilliant idea , but I haven’t heard any follow-up from the studio,” he said.

As well as the third Guardians film, Bautista has also been cast in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mysterywhich will also be coming to Netflix, as the streaming giant has bought the rights to the franchise and plans to make multiple sequels.

He’s also going to be starring in Knock at the Cabinwhich will be M Night Shyamalan’s first movie since Old last year.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 spirit Volume 2 are available now. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is coming to Disney+ later this year, and then Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 arrives on May 5, 2023.
