Boney Kapoor and the late Sridevi’s youngest daughter Khushi Kapoor is making her acting debut with The Archies. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film is an Indian adaptation of the popular Archies comics. Khushi is reportedly set to essay the role of Betty Cooper. The film’s poster and first teaser dropped recently and it has been the talk of town ever since. Boney Kapoor has now opened up about his thoughts on Khushi’s much-anticipated debut.
In an interview with ETimes, Boney Kapoor said that Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies is a “dream project” as it’s made for both the younger and older generation. Talking about Khushi’s acting ambitions, he explained, “Kids don’t come out with their true ambitions right from the start. They start by saying, ‘I want to do modeling and other things’. They keep getting diverted from their main ambition. Finally, when they cross the age of 19-20, the thought that they want to act develops firmly in their mind.”
He added, “Who doesn’t like glamor? Who doesn’t like getting attention? Everyone in the world likes it whether it is in the entertainment field, academic field or sports world.” He also revealed that she showed her interest in acting after her older sister Janhvi Kapoor began her career in the film industry. She also went to film school in New York.
Khushi Kapoor isnt the only star kid making a debut with The Archies. Joining her are Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.
The Archies which also stars Mihir Ahuja, Vedang Raina, Dot and Yuvraj Menda is set to arrive on a streaming platform in 2023. The film’s synopsis reads – A musical experience bursting with youth, rebellion, friendships, first loves and everything young adult, it still promises to have something for every generation. The film has the iconic gang of The Archies’ at the center of it, and perfectly matches the youthful energy, hope and excitement of the sixties era.
